What is Morphe ibisPaint?

ibisPaint X, from the Japanese company ibis, is a drawing and painting app that a lot of digital and manga artists use on their phones. It has layers, a big brush library, rulers, screentones for manga and speed-paint recording. The free version shows ads, and a Prime membership unlocks a set of extra tools and materials.

The APK on this page was built by the community AutoBuilds pipeline with Morphe CLI and hoo-dles/morphe-patches, a third-party bundle and not the official Morphe patches. The bundle has one ibisPaint patch, Enable Prime membership, on by default. Its description says it enables features locked behind the subscription paywall, and that it only works on arm64-v8a devices. The AutoBuilds maintainers later marked this patch as failing and stopped rebuilding ibisPaint, so this APK may fall behind the Play Store version.

About the Prime patch

Prime features in the app

Enable Prime membership turns on the parts of ibisPaint that the app itself locks behind Prime.

ARM64 only

The patch notes say it needs an arm64-v8a device. Most phones from the last several years qualify, but older 32-bit ones won't work.

Online features still check

Anything ibis serves from its servers for members may still ask for a real subscription.

Same drawing app

Canvases, brushes and layers are ibisPaint's own. Nothing about the drawing engine is changed.

Installing ibisPaint X

  1. Save your artwork first. Export or back up anything you care about, because the Play Store ibisPaint has to be uninstalled before this APK will install, and that deletes the app's local gallery.
  2. Download the Universal APK from the box above. Make sure your phone is 64-bit ARM; the Prime patch won't work otherwise.
  3. Allow your browser to install unknown apps and install the file.
  4. Open ibisPaint and import your backed-up work.

ibisPaint X FAQ

It's an unofficial build. The community AutoBuilds pipeline patched the original ibisPaint X APK with Morphe CLI and hoo-dles' open-source morphe-patches bundle and re-signed it. ibis and the Morphe team didn't make it. Modified APKs carry risk, so install it only if you trust the source.

You can. Uninstalling the Play Store version removes its local gallery, so back up or export your artwork before you install this build.

No. The patch description says it requires an arm64-v8a device. On older 32-bit phones the Prime features won't be enabled.

The AutoBuilds pipeline flagged the Prime patch as failing and took ibisPaint off its build list, so this APK isn't being refreshed at the moment.
