What is Morphe Nomone?

NOMone Desktop, from NOMone Software, puts a Linux desktop on your Android phone, tablet or TV. You get windows you can move around and resize, a taskbar, and real Linux apps, all running on the device. If the phone screen is too small, there's a VR mode that floats the desktop in front of you in a headset. The free version stops you after a 6-hour trial.

This APK was patched by the community AutoBuilds pipeline with hoo-dles' morphe-patches, a third-party bundle and not the official Morphe one. The bundle has two patches for NOMone Desktop and both are on by default. Remove trial limit drops the 6-hour usage cap, and Disable telemetry stops the app sending event logs to NOMone's own endpoint.

Two patches, both applied

Remove trial limit

The 6-hour trial cap is gone, so a long session won't get cut off.

Disable telemetry

Event logging that the app normally sends to its own analytics endpoint is switched off.

A real desktop

Overlapping windows, a taskbar and Linux apps, running on the phone itself.

VR mode

Use the desktop in a headset when the phone screen is too cramped to work on.

Installing NOMone Desktop

  1. Download the APK from the box above. There's one universal file.
  2. If you installed NOMone Desktop from the Play Store, uninstall it first. The signatures differ, so Android won't install over it, and you'll lose whatever is inside the old install.
  3. Allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps, then install the APK.
  4. Open it and let it set up the Linux environment the way it normally would.

NOMone Desktop FAQ

Neither. The community AutoBuilds pipeline built it from hoo-dles' open-source morphe-patches bundle, and this unofficial site links to it. Modified APKs carry risk, so install it only if you trust those sources.

The bundle describes it as a 6-hour trial usage limit built into the app. The Remove trial limit patch takes it out.

According to the patch description, it disables the event logging the app sends to its own custom endpoint. It doesn't change anything you install inside the Linux desktop.

No. Neither patch needs root.
