What is Morphe YouTube Music?

YouTube Music is Google's app for songs, albums and podcasts. On a free account it plays ads between tracks and stops as soon as the screen goes off, and fixing those two things is most of what this build is for. It's the stock app with the official Morphe patches applied by the community AutoBuilds pipeline. This site only links to the APK.

Beyond the basics there are some nice extras: a proper crossfade between tracks, synced lyrics pulled from third-party providers, scrobbling to Last.fm or ListenBrainz, and an option to play the song version of an album track rather than its music video. Nearly all of it lives behind switches in the Morphe settings, so you can leave alone whatever you don't care about.

What's different in Morphe YouTube Music

No ads between songs

Fullscreen ads, video ads and the Premium promotions are hidden by the Hide ads patch.

Keeps playing with the screen off

Background playback restrictions are removed, and audio-only mode lets you play a track without loading its video.

Synced lyrics

The Third-party lyrics patch fills the lyrics panel with time-synced lyrics from outside providers, which helps a lot for tracks where YouTube has none.

Scrobbling

Send what you play to Last.fm or ListenBrainz straight from the app, no separate scrobbler needed.

Crossfade and saner queues

A dual-player crossfade between tracks, shuffle and repeat that stay how you left them, and an option to play just the tapped song instead of replacing your queue with the whole album.

Android Auto

Patched apps normally lose their playlists and podcasts in Android Auto. The Android Auto patch bypasses that certificate check.

Speed, pitch and SponsorBlock

Change playback speed and pitch, skip silent gaps in podcasts, and let SponsorBlock jump over non-music parts of music videos.

Downloads

The in-app download button is wired up to save songs, either through an external downloader app or inside YouTube Music itself.

How to install it

  1. Install MicroG RE. The build includes the GmsCore support patch, so your Google sign-in goes through microG. If you haven't set it up before, follow the MicroG RE sign-in guide.
  2. Pick the right APK. There's no Universal file for YouTube Music, only ARM64 and ARMv7. Almost every phone sold in recent years needs ARM64. Choose ARMv7 only for an older or low-end device running 32-bit Android. x86 devices and most PC emulators aren't covered by either file.
  3. Allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps, then open the APK and install it. Its package name differs from the stock app, so the two can sit side by side.
  4. Sign in through MicroG, then open YouTube Music's settings and look for the Morphe section.

Questions about Morphe YouTube Music

It's built from Google's own YouTube Music APK and the open-source MorpheApp/morphe-patches bundle by the community AutoBuilds pipeline, not by this site. You can check the patches yourself on GitHub. A modified APK still carries risk, so install it only if you're comfortable with the source.

ARM64 for pretty much any current phone. ARMv7 is for older or budget devices running a 32-bit version of Android. If the ARM64 file refuses to install with a message about the package being incompatible, try ARMv7.

Yes, if you want to sign in. The GmsCore support patch replaces Google Play Services with microG for your account, and MicroG RE is the version Morphe maintains.

The build includes Morphe's Android Auto patch, which restores playlists and podcasts that Android Auto would otherwise hide for a re-signed app. Android Auto may also need Unknown sources enabled in its developer settings before it lists apps that didn't come from the Play Store.

No subscription is added to your account. Ads are hidden and screen-off playback works on the device, but anything Google decides on its servers stays the same.
